Modelling the below permanet magnet in comsol

Hello,

here are the details I have regarding a permanent magnet,

Width 2'' ± 0.005''
Length 2'' ± 0.005''
Thickness 0.25'' ± 0.005''
Material Licensed NdFeB
Grade N45
Plating/Coating Ni-Cu-Ni (Silver in Color)
Magnetized Thickness, Poles On Flat Face, Single Pole, Poles Unmarked
Surface Gauss 2516
Magnet Weight 4.835 oz
Pull Strength 182.3 lbs

I am trying to model a dipole geometry with 2 magnets separated by 63 mm with this and get the 3D field inbetween. What constitutive relatio shoul i use for the magnet ? ( b = mu(H +M)?) How do i pick the direction and magnitude of M? I only know the surface gauss - 2500?? would i need to map out the gauss along the two pole surfaces with a gaussmeter? If so how would I enter that data into comsol?

Thanks in advance,
Indira

Hi

The lazy way, I believe, since you have the surface gauss value, is to use a undefined magnetisation "MyM" and let COMSOL find the value to give you the equivalent surface magnetisation. For one magnet in free air/vacuum around.

Then to use this magnetisation found, in your full model

Good luck
