Volume contraction in continuous casting mold

Is it possible to model the volume contraction of solidifying steel in a continuous casting mold without the thermal stress/thermal expansion part of the structural mechanics module?

The packages i got are the heat transfer module, mixer module, cfd module and the material library. Also the Solid mechanics part of the structural mechanics module. I do not, however, have the thermal stress function beneath the linear elastic material function.

Help would be much appreciated.

Hello Andreas,

This thread discusses how you can modify the weak form of the equations to add thermal expansion if the license you are using does not include any of the modules in which that functionality is pre-implemented.

Best regards,

Jeff
