Diffusion in Isothermal Laminar Flow Along a Flat Plate

In most industrial systems, the species transport in laminar flow differs by several orders of magnitude between convection and diffusion.

This model serves as an introduction to the modeling of systems where a mass balance is coupled to a momentum balance, and where the flux of dissolved species in a fluid is given by convection and diffusion.

The model shows that the diffusive and the viscous layer are of different magnitudes.
