A Piezoelectric Shear Actuated Beam

This is example presents a static analysis of a piezoelectric actuator using the piezoelectric application mode from the Structural Mechanics Module (or the MEMS module).

A sandwich beam consisting of three layers is modeled. The shear deformation of the piezoceramic core layer and the flexible foam layer induce the bending action. The model calculates this deflection to be 83 nm, which is in good agreement with the work in the references.
