A memory-efficient physics interface, Elastic Waves, Time Explicit, was released in COMSOL Multiphysics® version 5.5. It is based on a higher-order discontinuous Galerkin method with a time-explicit time integration scheme. This method enables efficient multicore computation of acoustically large models such as ultrasound propagation for nondestructive testing (NDT) applications or modeling of seismic wave propagation in soil and rock. The interface is multiphysics enabled and couples to acoustics in fluid domains.
During the webinar, we will explore how to use this new capability as well as modeling best practices. Tutorial models demonstrating model setup and the simulation of elastic waves will be introduced.
