Laser Heating of Metallic Nanoparticles

Hi all,

Just had a question regarding whether any of you have had experience with using COMSOL to simulate the illuminating of a metallic nanoparticle, and from this calculating the energy the nanoparticle absorbs (presumably using the RF toolbox). Basically I'd like to take this energy that COMSOL calculates the particle to have absorbed into the Heat Transfer toolbox, and calculate the heating of the nanoparticle this corresponds to, and how this heat diffuses into a surrounding medium.

I've attempted this simulation before, but always get stuck on actually getting a gaussian beam representing the laser to propogate in the simulation environment. So I'm just wondering if anyone has any pointers to help me implement this design in 3D. Thanks in advance!
