Semiconductor diode model

Dear Comsol users
In the semiconductor diode example, I wonder how the variable 'ch' is defined. It is only said that it is 'calculated from ju', see page 5 of the semiconductor diode PDF.

How is it defined? What does it mean? Should this not be written somewhere?

Thanks for hints.

Martin
